On 20 April 2018, Lucy Liang, the CEO of Bowen Education Group (BEgroup), also CEO of Bowen International Group attended the One Belt One Road Open Day event at the Consulate General of the People’s Republic of China in Manchester. Lucy was invited by Mr Shanxiong Wu, the President of UK Association for the Promotion of Chinese Education.
The event was one of many events organised by the Consulate General under Silk & Belt initiatives. This time was focused on Arts Exhibition. There were about 100-150 people attended the event on a sunny Friday in Stockport. The VIPs include the Mayor of Manchester and Mayors of various northern cities near Manchester as well as the Chinese artists. Representatives from many Chinese communities, Chinese businesses, international students, NGOs, British organisations dealing with the China market, local corporates, local galleries, etc. attended the event.
The welcome session was a few traditional dance performances followed by VIP speeches. Consul General Mr Sun Dali delivered a speech in which he indicated that China and Britain have entered a golden age of bilateral relationship and there were more and more exchange programmes such as trade, education, culture and arts between two countries. One of the Mayors said that the direct flights between Manchester and Beijing, operated by Hainan Airlines, have brought two countries much closer. Manchester and surrounding regions have benefited from it. Another Mayor appraised the recent event of Chinese New Year and looked forward to see the water painting art work today.
One of the highlights was the drawing from a Chinese artist which was 200 metres long with 5000 golden fish on it. All the participants were asked to hold this piece of art and photos were taken from a flying camera like a mini helicopter. Drone?
Lucy met many potential stakeholders and enjoyed conversations with various Mayors and their wives at the event. It was a great event for networking and obtaining strong support for Bowen International Group’s businesses in UK, such as Education and Business.
